By far my favorite Korean dish. SUPER healthy and delicious. ‘Bibim’ means to mix. ‘Bap’ means rice. This dish has bunch of ingredients added to a bowl of rice, topped with red pepper paste and sesame oil. I put beef in this recipe but you can easily omit that and make it vegetarian as well.
This is not a ‘quick and easy’ type of meal because you need to make each ingredients separately but it’s totally worth it. I always make extra so I can keep it in the fridge and eat it again the next day. I also like to enjoy this in a hot stone bowl to make it warm bibimbap which is called dolsot bibimbap.
Bibimbap
Bibimbap is a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul and red pepper paste.
Ingredients
- 300 g Spinach for sigeumchi namu
- Pinch of salt for sigeumchi namu
- ½ tsp soy sauce for soup for sigeumchi namu
- 1 tbsp chopped green onion for sigeumchi namu
- ½ tsp minced garlic for sigeumchi namu
- 1 tsp sesame oil for sigeumchi namu
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seed for sigeumchi namu
- 400 g Soybean sprout for kongnamul muchim
- ½ tsp fish sauce for kongnamul muchim
- 2 tbsp chopped green onion for kongnamul muchim
- 1 tsp chopped red pepper for kongnamul muchim
- ½ tsp minced garlic for kongnamul muchim
- 1 tsp sesame oil for kongnamul muchim
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seed for kongnamul muchim
- 250 g boiled gosari (bracken) for gosari namul
- ½ tsp traditional Korean soy sauce for gosari namul
- 1 tbsp chopped green onion for gosari namul
- ½ tsp minced garlic for gosari namul
- 1 tbsp perilla seed oil for gosari namul
- 1 tsp perilla seed powder for gosari namul
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seed for garnish for gosari namul
- 250 g chi-namul for chi namul
- ½ tsp traditional Korean soy sauce for chi namul
- 1 tbsp chopped green onion for chi namul
- ½ tsp minced garlic for chi namul
- 1 tbsp perilla seed oil for chi namul
- 1 tsp perilla seed powder for chi namul
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seed for garnish for chi namul
- 160 g thin sliced cucumber for seasoned cucumber
- 1 tbsp sugar for seasoned cucumber
- 1 ½ tsp vinegar for seasoned cucumber
- 1 tsp lemon juice for seasoned cucumber
- ½ tsp salt for seasoned cucumber
- 200 g julienne white radish for seasoned white radish
- 1 tbsp sugar for seasoned white radish
- 1 ½ tsp vinegar for seasoned white radish
- 1 tsp lemon juicer for seasoned white radish
- ½ tsp salt for seasoned white radish
- 150 g julienne zucchini for stir fried zucchini
- pinch of salt for stir fried zucchini
- 1 tsp cooking oil for stir fried zucchini
- 1 tsp garlic for stir fried zucchini
- 2 tsp green onion for stir fried zucchini
- 1 tsp sesame seed for stir fried zucchini
- 150 g julienne carrot for stir fried carrot
- pinch of salt for stir fried carrot
- black pepper for stir fried carrot
- 350 g extra thin sliced beef for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 2 tbsp soy sauce for marinated beef, bulgogi
- ⅔ tbsp soy sauce for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 1 tsp minced garlic for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 1 tsp minced ginger for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 2 tsp rice wine for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 1 tsp sesame seed for marinated beef, bulgogi
- 1 tsp sesame oil for marinated beef, bulgogi

- red chili pepper paste
- pine nuts
Instructions
- Sigeumchi namul : Blanch spinach in boiling water with salt . Rinse and squeeze out water. Toss with all ingredients.
- Kongnamul muchim : Boil Kong-namul with salted water for about 15 minutes. Drain and toss kong-namul with all ingredients.
- Gosari namul : Toss the boiled gosari with all ingredients. In a pan, stir fry seasoned gosari with perilla seed powder.
- chui-namul : Same way as Gosari namul’
- seasoned cucumber : Slice it into thin pieces. Mix with all ingredients.
- seasoned white radish : Cut it into thin matchsticks. Mix with all ingredients.
- stir fried zucchini : Cut it into thin matchsticks. Brine and squeeze out water. Stir fry with garlic and green onion.
- stir fried carrot : Cut into fine julienne. Stir fry.
- marinated beef (Bulgogi) : Prepare the marinade with all seasoning ingredients. Soak the meat in the marinade. Stir fry.
- Place a small bowl of cooked rice in the individual bowl. Arrange all prepared vegetables side by side on the rice.
- In the center, put sunny side style fried egg , beef, red chili pepper paste, pine nuts, sesame seed, and sesame oil.
